Ebola is a type of hemorrhagic fever that makes you bleed from all your holes. You don’t want to get it. It kills about 83% of the people who get it and it’s the second deadliest disease you humans can get. But let’s cut through the Fox News hype and try to understand what it means.
In the most simple terms, Ebola is transmitted to humans by infected body fluids. That means that mostly healthcare workers and ebola victim caretakers get exposed to the virus. You can avoid catching ebola by following a few simple tips.
- Stay out of western Africa – This may be difficult for some of you, as for me, I didn’t find Africa or the middle east in my travel plans this year. Someday maybe, but not this year.
- Wash your hands after touching stuff – You know, like you usually do.
- If you are taking care of a patient suspected of ebola infection, follow these tips from the CDC
Otherwise, do what you do. You aren’t going to be exposed to ebola you dumbass. Quit letting people scare you with the latest, horrifying, whatever – that comes down your Facebook feed.
